Welcome to Miss Netting and Miss Ray's Confirmation Resource Page
This website has been created and designed to be used by teachers and students in developing activities around the Stage three Religion unit 6.4: Confirmation - Celebrating the Gift of the Holy Spirit. For each of the five content areas throughout the unit of work, provided are a variety of resources that are suitable, supportive and innovative in teaching the sacrament of Confirmation.
This unit builds on the year 5 unit We Celebrate the Sacraments and can be used to either/both educate or begin to prepare students for their Confirmation but not actually practice the sacrament itself. It needs to be considered that whilst Confirmation can be taught through religious education curriculum in the classroom, the sacrament is only practiced in the schools parish, thus highlighting the significant relationship between school and parish in Confirmation. Please note: If you choose to use this resource in the classroom, it is simply only as preparation material in teaching Confirmation. Additional resources and information will be required, if motives exceed the above mentioned goals of the resource.
The underpinning goal of this resource is to go beyond the idea of Confirmation and explore its true meanings: symbols and rituals, liturgical structure and most importantly the Christian community whilst examining the selected scriptures and using these as a vehicle to truly understand the sacrament. Furthermore, the resource serves to support both teacher and student with teaching and learning tools that are inspiring, motivating and meaningful and most importantly cater to a variety of various ICT tools relevant to todays primary classroom.
Please note that resources for teaching and learning in terms of the students are embedded through this website. Whereas, resources for teachers background knowledge and own education and development are located in the resource section.
